I’m going up to my son’s school today to watch his class while all the teachers have an appreciation lunch. I don’t think it’s ever going to stop being absurd to me that I’m now considered a responsible adult.
I definitely appreciate his teacher, though. The kid can drive me to the brink of insanity. I can’t imagine spending every day with 12 just like him in an enclosed space. They are always touching her. I would freak out if I were her. Just getting 7-year-old kids to sit in chairs is a struggle. Oh! and then teach them math. Good luck with that! That is not in my gift mix, as the more pious among us might say.
There are not words to express how grateful we are for all the teachers in our lives. They are kind and empathetic, yet tough with high expectations. They are genuinely professionals in an area I have very little experience or understanding. I am humbled by the mission they undertake to make my kid and so many others smarter, kinder, faster and funnier.
Thanks to teachers the world over. You all deserve much more than lunch. But it’s what there is to show our sincere appreciation. Because apparently, the authorities *from upon* taking you to bar and letting you get plastered. I know, so weird.
