Beachin

The end of the rainbow

The end of the rainbow

Our little family took a break from all the spring madness and took ourselves to the beach last week.

My sweet friend Katy got married to a wonderful man Kevin. We used it as an excuse for a long weekend getaway.

The lovely couple

The lovely couple: And they lived happily ever after…

The wedding was absolutely beautiful. We had a marvelous time. I’m so pleased for them.

Before all the festivities, my clan spent some time eating fresh seafood, playing in the sand and generally just being quiet and together. Things have been so hectic lately, there hasn’t been much of that.

There goes my heart, down to the sea.

Jackson saw the ocean for the first time in his life. I know, I know, he’s lived a life a deprivation. Seriously, he’s fine.

One morning he woke up, crawled into bed with us to eat pop tarts and watch cartoons. Outside, I could hear the ocean waves crashing on the shore. Inside, there was giggling and cuddling and sugar. I don’t know paradise is to you, but that’s about as good as things get for me.

We clean up alright.

I’m so grateful for a few days of respite with my people. I’m so glad we got to celebrate with Katy and Kevin. I’m thrilled they gave us the excuse to make the time.

After a 957-hour car ride home, it’s back to reality. Today there is a mountain of sandy laundry to do. Jackson has soccer practice tonight. I’ve got to go to the grocery store because we’re out of everything from being gone.

One last look before we left.

One last look before we left.

Nothing stopped while we were away, so there’s email, errands and life to catch back up. I’m just so glad that we stopped, even for a few days, to really appreciate each other. Because we’re kind of a nice family.
