Easter and Opening Day, #SameSame

I was looking at the last few posts here. If this is all you see of me, you’d probably think my life was pretty bad. True, I am wrestling with some difficult stuff in my head, but there is so much that is lovely and good too.

Yesterday was Easter. It was rainy and soggy. But it was also really nice. We went to church. We saw our friends. We heard some good preaching about our God who gives us the chance to start over again and again. What a gift!

Then last night, we celebrated Opening Day in baseball, which is sort of the same thing. The long winter is over. Summer is almost here.

We had hot dogs and beer. The kids hunted Easter eggs. We ate too much sugar. The kids played. We all laughed. It is well with my soul.

As long as anyone knows, we a nice respectable family. At one point in the morning, I was forced to yell, "You are not wearing a vest with no shirt to church, and that's all there is to it! Put.Your. Shirt.On."

Melanie's grandma used to make a lamb cake every Easter. Now she does. Much to my dismay, it was not red velvet cake.

Somehow this is the only photo I have of Andrea and Heath. But they were here. And they seemed to have a good time too.
